The Sr Data Services Manager will report to the Director of Data Services and will be responsible for managing our Data Engineering and BI team. This challenging role requires understanding of modern data architecture principles and utilizing cloud technology to deliver, setting clear expectations, and then delivering on those expectations.

 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily activities of the Data engineering team
  • responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support.
  • Will have to look after front-end systems and back-end processing capabilities.
  • Evaluate staff performance
  • Manage timelines for delivering projects on time and on budget
  • Administer Service Level Agreements
  • Ensure standards are met for both data engineering and data architecture
  • Aligns with other IT managers to ensure data and interoperability standards are being met
  • Works with Director to align on medium- and long-term direction of data strategy
  • Executes data services strategy
  • Ensures quality of deliverables
  • Understand and translate the technical design from the Data Architect team into implemented physical data models that meet data governance, enterprise architecture and business requirements for data warehousing.
  • Manage data within the data warehouse to ensure efficiency of platform.
  • Work with operational data and data acquisition teams to manage incoming sources and the down-stream systems to understand and support their needs for reporting and analytics.
  • Support incident resolution and continuous improvement to drive efficiency across multiple operational run metrics.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years engineering on large scale EDWs
  • 5+ years building solutions using Databricks
  • 5+ years managing\ supervising data teams
  • 5+ years building end to end solutions on Power BI
  • Thorough understanding of modern data warehouse design principles
  • Thorough understanding of data warehouse methodologies (Inmon, Kimball)
  • A track record of managing successful EDW implementations
  • Ability to help the team quickly troubleshoot issues that come up on a daily basis
  • Hands on experience working on large-scale data analytics projects
  • Thorough understanding of Business Intelligence methodologies and tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Core Azure technologies such as ADF, AKF, SQL, Azure Analysis Services, Logic Apps, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Data Lakes
  • Working knowledge of modern data engineering languages such as Spark, Scala, Python
  • Hands on experience with Databricks
  • Hands on experience with Snowflake
  • Understanding of Lakehouse
